I wanted to make some sour cream look like blood, can I add food coloring to it? Or does the extra liquid in the food coloring make the SC very runny??? Can I color sour cream? ?
I don't think the extra liquid will make the sour cream runny. It is just the same as adding to frosting, no change in texture. Great idea, never thought of that. Be fun on St. Patrick's day to make it green. Clever! Can I color sour cream? ?
Yes you can.. you can add any color to it or a combo of colors and it shouldnt do anything to the texture.. good luck!
I would say, yes you can add food coloring to it. However, in order to make it red instead of pink, you would have to add a great deal of food coloring to make it that red, since sour cream is white.
The beautiful natural coloration of foods is always best, but you can also accent a bento with edible “paint”. I use it from time to time. The paints in the palette above are made from sour cream, which is just one option. Read on for some pointers on painting with foods and what to expect from the different types you’re working with.
Most of my painting is done with sour cream, yogurt, vanilla pudding and cream cheese. They take on color well and mix fairly smoothly, but each one has its pros and cons.
Yogurt/Sour Cream
Pros: Smooth, thin, bright color, easy to tailor to your dietary needs.
Cons: Has a nasty habit of separating and becoming watery.
I found this information and thought I would pass it on to you
you can color it
Yes, you can color it.
