Dear Cconnelly 7,
At Home Depot and Lowe's there are appliance paints of many colors, especially white! These paints will not chip off. They are ';appliance paints';. Make sure to get the one with the sealer in it.
Also make sure to prime it first and then paint. Some people skip the primer and then wonder why it takes many coats of paint?! Yes, there is a spray but, there is also a brush on. The primer also helps to adhere the appliance paint better!
Sometimes appliance paint can be touchy. I've used it several times and the best tip that I can give is...let it completely dry before adding another coat! Even if it is just a little tacky, wait another hour. Have fun!Can I paint my refrigerator? I want to change it from cream color to white?
What surface does it have? If its just regular metal they make appliance paint. If it has some kind of surface or coating you might have to remove it.Can I paint my refrigerator? I want to change it from cream color to white?
You need a quart one part epoxy from top secret coatings.
It would probably take a special appliance enamel. I think the finishes on most appliances nowadays are baked on. Contact an appliance repair store and ask if the stock a paint especially for this purpose.
Painting over a refrigerator, or any hard surface, requires the you properly prep the surface, first.
Clean all surfaces with a good degreaser cleanser like TSP (Tri-sodium Phosphate, available at most retail paint stores); mask off any surfaces that you do not want painted with your blue, 3M, masking tape.
Prime with a good bonding primer, like UMA (again, available at most retail paint stores, but not at Home Depot or Lowe's); let cure, or harden, for several days.
Now, there are several ways that you can apply the paint: Ideally, you would want to use a commercial cup sprayer and apply several layers of an epoxy enamel.
But since this is not feasible for most of us, you can use a good quality acrylic paint, like Benj. Moore's Impervex.
The big question is how to apply it. If you brush it on you will see brush marks. No way around it. I do not like brush marks.
What I find works really good is to sponge on the black, creating a hammered, textured finish, with no brush marks.
Use the outside, or pointed side of the natural sea sponge, slightly dampened; pour some of the paint into a tray; use the sponge to lightly apply a light layer over the surface.
Take your time, and do not apply the black too heavy with each coat; you will need to apply 3-4 layers, at least.
This might sound like a lot, but it goes real fast, and the final effect is worth it.
After painting, give the piece a couple of days to cure before pulling the tape, and subjecting the frig to normal wear and tear. Do not worry about applying a clear finish to the black; after about a week, the black will have hardened into a very durable finish.
where it says black, your color will be white...
Yes, but you'll probably have to get a special paint made for appliances or it'll flake off too easily. I think it's a spray....at Home Depot Lowes, Walmart. Never tried it tho.
You can buy appliance paint from Lowes or that other store. (HD)
Yes you can. Just go to a hardware store like Home Depot. and ask for help, let them know you need paint for refrigerator.
Sorry you cannot paint a refrigerator because the paint will start to chip off...
An autobody shop could apply paint that will stick, but a new fridge at $500, that might not make sense. You can try painting it with spray cans if you prep the surface correctly, but the results will not be as good as a shop applied topcoat.
Sure you can,but use a high strength industrial paint. I used Rustollium's Industrial spray paint, and it turned out very well. Just remember to get all the grease and dirt off, than use a primer on it. Bye By the way, my paint never chipped off, peeled, cracked or anything else. I used a highgloss . It outlasted the fridge!
Yes, You can paint your Fridge. I did
There is a paint called BIN you paint it over your refrgerator then you can paint it any color you want. You can prob. find it in Home Depot. Good Luck!!
Yes you can. There's a paint made especially for painting appliances.
Your local paint store will be able to advise you.
Yes. No problem. Just sand the whole thing lightly with 600 grit wet -or - dry paper. Used wet is best. wipe clean, first with a clean dry cotton cloth, then with a treated cheesecloth tack rag. Spray the paint, either with a cup - type spray outfit or with aerosol cans. Prime it first, using either grey or red oxide primer, depending on the finish color you choose, then lightly sand again, dry, with a new sheet of wet -or -dry 600 grit. then go for it slowly and carefully with your spray of choice. Spray cans can give you a very nice finish if you don't go with the cheap type, use Rustoleum. get the type that sprays a good fan pattern rather than a simple dot. this will lessen greatly your tendency to have runs and sags. Go slowly, many light coats are best. Runs and Sags are caused by only one thing...too much paint. For a higher gloss, you can put a clear acrylic coat overall after the color coat has cured thoroughly. Be sure the temperature of the Frodge is between 60 and 80 degrees when you start painting. Cooler temperatures will give you a much greater tendency for runs and sags.
If your lucky enough to know someone who works in a body shop, they could do it very quickly and it will look brand new.
not unless if you really want to. if not. get a new one.
You can it's looks good for while, for a real good finish some people take it to a car paint shop.
Don't bother, whatever paint that you use will not bond to the enamel, it will chip and flake off eventually.
Yes, definitely! You need to follow the instructions on the ';appliance paint'; very carefully because it won't last if you don't. Many home center stores carry the paint it almost always comes in a spray can. Be sure to do this outside and this paint can be toxic, tape up anything you don't want the paint to adhere to on the refrigerator %26amp; remove the doors for easier handling.
There's nothing stopping you from painting any external surface, but be careful how you go... you can't just slap on a bit of gloss... it'd look horrendous. My recommendation is to take it outside and spray paint it for a nice blemish free finish... careful dust doesn't get trapped on the paint.
I have done it myself, twice. I got a good quality short nap roller and appliance paint and used that. Before I started I used a deglossing liquid. It held up very well. If you want it especially smooth, better have it sprayed. they have professionals that come to your house to do this.
There is a spray paint just made for appliances. Go to your hardware store and ask. I have seen it used on some home improvement shows.
The refrigerator can be painted with regular paints, unlike other household appliances like an oven or a microwave. This is a great way to cover rust spots and give new life to an old refrigerator.
Contact your local paint dealers, and appliance stores. Refrigerator paint is available.
Buy white appliance spray paint, make sure that the surfaces are clean, tape off the chrome, remove the handles and paint away. (try to do it outside-fumes and overspray)
