Could I repaint black finished furniture with a light cream color paint after sanding it?

I have a wood bed, bedside table, and dresser that have a shiny black finish on them. I want to change the color of it and make it lighter. I was thinking maybe a light creamy beige would be good. What do you think? And if I sanded the furniture well before I painted, do you think I could repaint the black furniture a lighter color with a good result?

Thanks.Could I repaint black finished furniture with a light cream color paint after sanding it?
Sure. Just use a good primer before your base coat. Maybe even two coats of primer so the black doesn't show through.Could I repaint black finished furniture with a light cream color paint after sanding it?
yes you can. I have my garden pergola look like this http://www.foreverredwood.com/pergola-cu鈥?/a> and painted it with brown and after a month I repaint it with white.
you may want to sand it first before you prime it
